The First Friday Art Walk at Central Washington University Feb. 1 will feature works by Virginia Thoren, a fashion photographer who began her work in the 1940s, according to a news release.

The exhibit examines advertising, photography and high fashion in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Thoren began her professional career at the art department of Vogue magazine. She moved on to work for ad agencies, doing fashion photography in Paris and New York before opening her own New York studio in 1952.

Her work also served as set decoration in the “Sex and the City” movie.

The opening reception for the exhibition is Feb. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Reception Center, 211 East 10th Avenue.
