A Ronald man reported missing Tuesday morning died from exposure, according to a release from the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office.

A couple on their morning walk found him lying behind a snow berm near Fan House Road and Nelson Dairy Road near Ronald.

Robert Fossatti, 76, was reported missing from his residence on state Route 903 in Ronald by his son at about 5:42 a.m. Tuesday.

Fossatti reportedly suffered from dementia, Parkinson’s and near blindness, according to the release. Fossatti recently had an episode of sleep walking, and his son had not seen him since 8 o’clock the night before.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with members of the Cle Elum-Roslyn-South Cle Elum Police responded and began searching the area. Search and rescue teams were mobilizing when the couple found the man later that morning.

Fossatti was transported by ambulance from the scene to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital for treatment, where he died from exposure and possible hypothermia, according to the release.
