- Rebranding CWU
In addition to the Wildcat head, Central Washington University is updating logos and initials that appear on letterheads and other materials.
The challenge with the rebranding effort was to create something unique, memorable and fresh that emphasizes what CWU is selling, said CWU Director of Public Affairs Linda Schactler. During the process, one thing that came up over and over again was that people come to CWU because of its location, she said.
“People instantly say it’s because it’s close to Seattle. No, they love the mountains, they love camping, they love the funky historical town,” she said.
To represent that rural environment, an image of Mount Stuart is woven into the new letters abbreviating the university. The new slogan is Learn. Do. Live.
“Learn is small class sizes and signature programs, Do is hands-on learning, and Live is all these things prepare you to have a remarkable life,” Schactler said.
A previous design had the words “Central Washington University” written out.
“We used that 10 years,” Schactler said. “Some of the feedback we got was that it was too long to use.”
