Heirloom Blueberry Plants

Heirloom Blueberry Plants is a new booth at the Ellensburg Farmers Market.

Joining the Ellensburg Farmers Market for the first time this season is Alexa Blanken from Heirloom Blueberry Plants. Based out of Robinson Canyon, Heirloom Blues offers a variety of heirloom variety plants including huckleberry, elderberry, raspberry, and of course blueberry, ranging from two to five-year-old plants.

Originally, Alexa’s father discovered the idea for selling heirloom variety plants while looking at a property in Puyallup, rather than digging up and throwing away 30 to 80-year-old plants, her father thought to dig and sell the plants, therefore giving consumers access to instant blueberries.

“We try to stay true to the heirloom ideal of variety,” Alexa said. “So there is no standard best seller, there are a variety of plants for people who want variety.”

With plans to expand the variety of plants being offered, as well as the option to pick your own plants at the farm, Heirloom Blueberry Plants can be found at the Ellensburg Farmers Market and the Seattle Flower and Garden Show.
