Agriculture product distributor Wilbur-Ellis has closed its Ellensburg facility and consolidated its operations for the region at its Clackamas County, Ore., facility.

“We’re consolidating two facilities. Our facility in Ellensburg is being shut down, but we’ll still continue to serve our customers in the area,” said Joel Mather, facilities operations manager for Wilbur-Ellis.

The Wilbur-Ellis Ellensburg office was at 312 Wenas St. — toward the end of West Third Street near the train depot. The office employed 12 people in Ellensburg.

Crews have been working to remove equipment for reallocation to other Wilbur-Ellis sites.

“We’re moving some equipment to our facility in Clackamas,” Mather said. “We’re redistributing some equipment to other facilities.”

Mather said the consolidation is in response to declines in the dairy industry in the region.

“The building itself is for sale as is the warehouse across the street,” he said.

Wilbur-Ellis provides animal forage and nutrition products and services through its feed division. Its corporate office is in San Francisco.
