The Ellensburg Arts Commission has been a major factor in the local arts and music scene for a long, long time, helping promote and financially assist organizations and individuals with various projects throughout the year.
As the local arts community moves forward in 2023, the commission is lending a helping hand.
The Ellensburg Downtown Association received funding to assure that Buskers in the Burg will continue to have its giant puppet parade and street performers. Artists in Action, a feature of Paint Ellensburg has been funded.
Valley Musical Theatre’s current prediction, “The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong” as well as “Godspell Jr.” both received funding.
Make Music Ellensburg will be continuing its Ellensburg Strum-Along events as well as a Rock Band Class. The Central Washington University chapter of the Jazz Education Network will be providing a Women in Jazz event, and Gabrielle McNeillie will be holding a public International Dance Day.
In visual arts, local artist Renee Adams will be building an exhibition with students titled Bean Bag Botany, and Entrust Community Services will host an exhibition featuring artists with disabilities.
