A concert featuring Byron Schenkman and Friends along with Rachell Ellen Wong is at 7 p.m. Friday in the McIntyre Recital Hall.

Schenkman is a multi-instrumentalist and cofounder of several ensembles, including being the codirector of the Seattle Baroque Orchestra until 2013. Schenkman was awarded the Erwin Bodky Award from the Cambridge Society for Early Music, and were voted Best Classical Instrumentalist by readers of Seattle Weekly.

Schenkman is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and Indiana University and currently teaches music history at Seattle University.

Wong has been a featured soloist with orchestras across the United States and abroad. She has performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica UCR in Costa Rica and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Panamá and toured with the New Zealand String Quartet.

Byron Schenkman & Friends (BS&F) is a Seattle-based group of musicians dedicated to historically informed chamber musical performances. Founded in 2013, BS&F performs an annual six-concert series at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. In 2017 BS&F published a CD, The Art of the Harpsichord, featuring Schenkman performing on eight antique harpsichords from the 16th through 18th centuries. Sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti, a second CD, was released the following year featuring antique harpsichords and an early piano.

This event is open to all. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $7 for students with I.D.
