Washington Geological Survey’s graphics editor and geologist Daniel Coe will present a free lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday night in CWU’s Discovery Hall room 103, according to a news release.

The lecture is titled “Revealing the Geology and Natural Hazards of Washington with Lidar” and will feature a slide show by Coe.

The increasing availability of lidar data has allowed geologists to map landslides, faults, volcanoes, and other natural hazards with an unprecedented level of detail and accuracy. Coe’s award-winning maps and lidar visualizations have been featured in places such as National Geographic, Nature, and American Scientist.
