Guest organist Christian Kühne of Löbau, Germany will perform at 4 p.m., Aug. 4 at Grace Church in Ellensburg, according to a news release.

The church’s organ is an accurate reproduction of the organs of Bach’s time, and the recital will feature works by Bach and more.

Kühne was born in Leipzig, Germany and started playing the piano in second grade. He began organ lessons three years later. He studied at the Kirchenmusicschule (School for Church Music) in Dresden.

He was the choirmaster and organist in Chemnitz and in 1988 moved to St. Nicolai Church in Löbau. In 2000 he was appointed lecturer for children’s choir directing at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusic (College of Church Music) in Görlitz. He was named Director of Church Music in Löbau and Zittau. Christian has several CDs and many organ recitals and choir performances to his credit.

The performance is free but donations for travel expenses are welcome.
