The noon Rotary Club of Ellensburg recently replaced the steps, railings and landscaping in front of the Kittitas city library. Cost of the $13,000 project was covered by a Rotary District Grant, money from noon Rotarians, and an in-kind donation from Premier Paint and Flooring.

Kittitas mayor Pat Cort and city council member John Camarata were on hand for the dedication of the project in June. Mayor Cort thanked the Rotarians for their work to “make a welcoming and safe addition for our children and community.”

The library building dates to 1889 and was originally a schoolhouse. It became a library in the 1980s, and in 2014 it was renamed the Gilmour Memorial Library in honor of former board member Mary Lou Gilmour and her husband Jerry.
