Rodeo City Rollergirl blockers work to stop an opposing jammer. The next bout is Oct. 21 at the Ellensburg Racquet and Recreation Center.

The Rodeo City Rollergirls are having their home opener and annual Halloween-themed bout at 4 p.m., Oct. 21 at the Ellensburg Racquet and Recreation Center, according to a news release. The team will be facing the Lava City Roller Dolls from Bend, Ore.

Spectators are encouraged to wear costumes and prizes will be awarded during a costume contest.

Tickets are $5 in advance at or $10 at the door. The doors open at 3:30 p.m.

The Rodeo City Rollergirls formed in September 2010, and has more than 40 volunteers including skaters, referees and non-skating officials. Recruitment for skaters and volunteers is ongoing. There also is a junior league for skaters under 18. For more information, visit
