Jazz horn player Dmitri Matheny will appear with the Central Washington University Jazz Combos in a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the CWU Music Building Recital Hall, according to a news release.

Matheny will play a couple of tunes with each combo as well as some of his own tunes.

Matheny has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, and has performed at Ellensburg’s Jazz in the Valley in 2014 and 2015.

“When the chance arose to bring him here to work with our small group jazz musicians, I just had to do it,” said Chris Bruya, CWU’s Director of Jazz Activities, in the news release.

The concert is free and open to the public. Matheny will also present a clinic at 2 p.m. Thursday in room 159 of the Music Building, open to the public. To learn more about Matheny, visit dmitrimatheny.com.
