An assault ending in multiple stab wounds on a 19-year-old was reported by the Ellensburg Police Department on social media Friday.

Police responded to reports of assault with a baseball bat at near Okanogan Street and West 14th Avenue at 2:11 a.m. Friday morning. When arriving at the scene, officers found a 19-year-old male unconscious with multiple stab wounds.

According to the EPD, witnesses reported seeing the man being beaten with a baseball bat, and police believe there are two suspects.

“We have at least one of the suspects identified and that suspect is a known gang member or has gang affiliation,” EPD Captain Dan Hansberry said. “We don’t know if the incident itself was gang related, that’s part of the investigation.”

Hansberry said the police believe the suspects are juveniles, and the investigation is just a matter of locating them and having them charged.
