Hotel Windrow break-in

Ellensburg Police respond Monday morning to a report of a break-in and damage at the Hotel Windrow under construction on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Main Street in Ellensburg.

Someone broke into the Hotel Windrow under construction on the corner Fifth Avenue and Main Street overnight between Sunday and Monday, according to Steve Townsend, the hotel’s managing partner.

“They broke into a window on the Kelley Realty side, they got into the third floor and opened a sprinkler riser — the pipes going up the stairway,” Townsend said. “They opened them and flooded the stairwell.”

Townsend said on Monday morning that nothing was stolen from inside the structure.

“They didn’t steal anything, they just did a lot of damage,” he said.

The hotel is slated to open in November. Townsend said the damage may mean the opening is delayed.

Townsend said there were people working in the building Sunday, so it happened sometime after the end of the work day.

Ellensburg Police were investigating the scene on Monday morning and Townsend said he is offering a $10,000 award for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ellensburg Police.
