Central Washington University sent out a notice Friday informing campus employees that Vice President of University Advancement Scott Wade died while vacationing in Hawaii.

Wade was appointed to the position in 2014, where he oversaw donor and alumni relations, events and the CWU Foundation. More recently, he helped procure the funds to expand and renovate Tomlinson Stadium.

“It’s a huge loss, not only to CWU but to the community,” said Kremiere Jackson, CWU Vice President of Public Affairs. “Scott had such an impact in our foundation, the board of trustees, and the community in terms of all of the places he had his hands in.

Jackson said the administration met Friday morning to discuss how best to support Wade’s family, which includes his wife and three children, as well as the university staff.

“We are mourning his loss greatly today,” Jackson said.

Wade was originally hired at Central in 2012, prior to that he was the executive director of development at Houston College for almost four years. He also held the position of director of student activities at Baylor University and the associate dean of student leadership at George Fox University, his alma mater.
