The Ellensburg United Methodist Church and FISH are getting creative in the COVID-era with the “Drive-by Santa Claus” event on Dec. 6.

Rev. Mark Wagner is calling it a community event to enjoy the spirit of the season during the pandemic.

“We think this will be a great opportunity to lift spirits for the Christmas season in the midst of this COVID crazy,” Wagner said. “We’re asking that people remain in their cars and wear masks and enjoy the day.”

This is an opportunity to hand deliver your letter to Santa at a safe distance on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the FISH Food Bank parking lot, 804 Elmview Road. Just drive by and drop off the letter to Santa while volunteers and organizers hand out individually hand-wrapped holiday goodies.

They will also be doing traditional Christmas carols. Organizers area asking that people bring non-perishable items that can be distributed during the holiday season.
