Athletes of all ages turned up to Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park on a cloudy Saturday morning to participate in one of four events offered by the Ellensburg Triathlon.

Endurance enthusiasts had their choice of a 5K run, a sprint duathlon, a sprint triathlon or an Olympic triathlon. The event was a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, whose mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Jeff Hashimoto and the Ellensburg High School cross country team were out volunteering along with youth from the Ellensburg Four Square Church.

The event was the fourth of the BuDu Champion Series.

Locally in the Olympic triathlon, Ellensburg had two representatives crack the top 10, with Robert Pritchett placing second and Ryan Nesbitt placing 10th.

On the sprint side, Zachary Mathias from Ellensburg placed in ninth.
