An 18-year-old man out rafting with friends on Saturday, May 20, drowned in fast-running water after their makeshift raft ran into trouble on the Cle Elum River.

A group of seven young people from the Moses Lake and Warden area had put together a raft of connected innertubes. But after heading out, the raft was caught by tree limbs and underwater hazards, according to a Kittitas County Sheriff's news release.
