Thumbs up to Belsaas and Smith for the excellent work they performed by tearing down the rat-infested home at the end of East Fifth Avenue. They cleaned up the MESS (and I use this loosely) and left the lot like nothing was ever there. Well done, guys!

Thumbs up to Jazz in the Valley

Ellensburg’s annual music festival kicks into full gear today with performances this afternoon in the Rotary Pavilion and tonight in the pavilion and venues throughout the downtown. In addition, Sunday’s performances in the pavilion are free. So, come into town and enjoy the sounds and summer courtesy of some of the best musicians from around the region.

Thumbs up to Cle Elum Roundup

Over the past few years the Cle Elum Roundup rodeo has grown and developed into an officially sanction PRCA rodeo. The event takes place this weekend at the Washington State Horse Park. Events include bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping and more.

Thumbs up to Moosefest

“Northern Exposure” was broadcast on CBS from 1990 to 1995, but they show has live on in the hearts of fans (and repeats on cable) for more than two decades. The fans return to the show’s filming location of Roslyn this weekend for the annual Moosefest to enjoy visiting some of the iconic sites and well as meeting some of the stars and crew of the show.

Thumbs up to KEEN Connecting Kids to Camp

The Kittitas Environment Education Network is helping kids connect with science and nature through the free Connecting Kids to Camp program. The camp takes place from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday at North Alder Park; 1 to 2 p.m.. Tuesday at Mountain View Park; noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday at Kiwanis Park; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday at West Ellensburg Park; and 1 to 2 p.m., Friday at Memorial Park.

Thumbs up to Concerts in the Park series

Ellensburg’s annual summer Concerts in the Park series kicks off on Thursday with a performance by Gone Fiddling Again from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at North Alder Park, 2400 N. Alder St. The series continues at the same time and location for four Thursday in August. The performances are free.
