If you can remember the opening song to Roger and Hammerstein’s movie “State Fair,” “Our state fair is a great state fair, don’t miss it, don’t even be late,” originally filmed in 1945 and again in 1962, then you need to know about the Adult Activity Center’s Senior Lounge at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds.

Attending a fair can be very enjoyable but can sometimes quite tiring. The AAC provides comfortable cushioned seating, cookies, coffee and cold drinks in an air-conditioned lounge next to the Home Arts Building.

Look for the sign on the walkway by the food stalls between the Home Arts building and the livestock exhibition buildings. The AAC hosts at the Senior Lounge are eager to make your Fair visit enjoyable.

Every year fair visitors from around the nation sign the guest registry. Coming from all over the state and as far away as Arizona, North Dakota, New York, and Hawaii, they all are grateful for the hospitality and the opportunity to relax while enjoying the refreshments and camaraderie of fellow fair goers and the staff of the lounge.

So if you attend the Fair or Rodeo this year, please stop by and visit with us and put your feet up. We’d love to see you and offer any help we can. The lounge is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 through Sunday, Sept. 1 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.
