Dean Rees Child will serve a 24-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be serving a Spanish speaking mission to the Mexico Oaxaca Mission, entering the Mexico Missionary Training Center Sept. 17, one of several such centers worldwide.

Son of David and Jaclyn Child of Ellensburg, WA, Dean is an older brother to Ila (14), Julieanne (13), Joan (11), Jane (8), and Brent (4).

Dean graduated from Ellensburg High School in 2019. He was a part of ASB, participated in Running Start at CWU his Junior and Senior year, was a scholar-athlete, played varsity football and wrestling, was a part of the Chamber Choir and was crowned Mr. EHS 2019. He loves to hunt, fish, do water sports, and enjoy the outdoors.

After his mission, he will be joining the military and pursuing a medical career.

To raise money for his mission, Dean raised hunting dogs, worked as a hired hand, and helped his parents remodel their home. According to Church sources, missionary work is voluntary. Missionaries fund their missions — except for their transportation to and from their field of labor — and are not paid for their services.
