Ellensburg High School’s Blake Johnson (19) takes a shot on goal against Toppenish High School Tuesday at Ellensburg High School.

Another torrid performance from junior Blake Johnson, as on Thursday night, she notched six goals to put her season total to 16.

She scored the first three goals before Frannie Valverde scored on an Allie Brown assist to make it 4-0 at the half.

Maddy Snow made it 8-0 in the 65th minute on an assist from Melissa Sanchez.

Cynthia Johnson tallied three saves.

Ellensburg improves to 8-1, 3-1 in conference.

Ellensburg cross country results

Both the Ellensburg girls and boys track team improved to 4-0 in conference with wins over Othello and Grandview.

For the girls, Ellensburg defeated Grandview 15-50 and Othello 17-46. Leah Holmgren placed first with a time of 19:28 and Kate Laurent finished second with a time of 19:29, with Rylee Leishman in third at 20:34.

Ellensburg placed eight runners in the top 10, with Holly Fromherz 5th (22:40), Elisa Wallace 6th (22:41), Chloe Mattson 7th (22:42) Alex Hall 8th (22:47) and Shannon Nolan 9th (22:47) finishing in a tight pack.

“The girls ran well today, and worked together,” said head coach Jeff Hashimoto.

For the boys, Ellensburg defeated Grandview 16-47 and Othello 16-45. Baylen Bean and Patrick Adkisson both ran a first place time of 17:32, and closely followed was Reese Braman in 17:34 and Isak Larson in 17:41.

Theo Dittmer 7th (18:30) and Bryton Wilson (18:44) rounded out the scoring as Ellensburg placed six in the top 10.

Kittitas volleyball defeats Cle Elum 3-1

The Coyotes and Warriors battled it out on Thursday night and Kittitas defended its home court with a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 25-9) triumph.

KHS Stats: Taylor DeKoning 28 kills, 16 digs; Anna Robertson 16 digs; Tory Coates 33 assists; Amelia Mohn and Coates combined for 48 serves, 11 aces.

Cle Elum-Roslyn Stats: Hannah Rainwater 7 kills, 2 blocks; Naomi Baker 6 kills, 3 aces; Natali Baker 5 blocks, 10 digs, 19 assists, 4 aces; Davi Vaughn 7 digs.

Ellensburg volleyball sweeps Toppenish

The Bulldogs traveled to Toppenish Thursday night and left with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-11) victory to improve to 5-0 in conference.

Stats: Abby Harrell 3 aces, 10 kills; Grace Oldham 3 kills, 9 digs; Payton Lyyski 2 aces, 5 kills, 1 block; Reaghan Naboychik 7 kills; Maia Valencia 2 aces, 16 assists; Leah Stueckle 11 assists.

Ellensburg women’s golf league results

On Sept. 24, the Nifty Niners play of the day was “Even Holes” on the back 9. Winners were Div. A Debbie Whitman (30), Div. B (tie) Terri Rasmussen / Anita Boyum (32), Div. C Valerie Farrell (33).

On Sept. 26, the Ellensburg Ladies 18-Hole Division play of the day was “Beat the Pro.” Ellensburg Golf Pro, Frank Crimp, shot a 74. After adjusting for the difference in the men’s and women’s par, the score for the ladies to tie or beat was a net 76. Winners were Debbie Whitman (72), Kathy Jurgens (72), Peg Whitaker (74), Jackie Galbraith (76) and Sharon Henry (76).

On Oct. 8, the Nifty Niners play of the day was “Low Gross” on the back 9. Winners were Div. A Molly Pieters (50), Div. B (tie) Terri Rasmussen / Kathy Jurgens (54).
