The Park-to-Park 5k DASH and the Ellensburg Sprint and Olympic Distance triathlon are scheduled Saturday, July 13. The Park-to-Park 5k DASH starts at 8 a.m. at the far end of Rotary Park, runs along the trail that connects Rotary to Irene Rinehart, goes down the Dyke road, back through the wooded trail, around Carey Lakes and finishes on the grass near the picnic shelter. Late Registration can be completed at Mountain High Sports (4th Ave) 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday while early-online registration is at: https://runsignup.com/Race/WA/Ellensburg/CareyLakesRun. The Sprint Triathlon which starts about 8:10 a.m. begins with a half-kilometer swim in Carey Lake, a 20K bike ride out (to the “S” curves) and back on Manastash Road, and a 5K run within the Irene Rinehart-Carey Lakes complex. The event can be done as an individual entrant or as a team of either two or three. The more strenuous Olympic Triathlon encompasses a 1.5K swim (two loops around Carey Lake perimeter), a 40K ride out to the end of Manastash Road and back, followed by a 10K run that is two-loops around the Irene Rinehart course. This event can also be done as an individual or a team of two or three.
