Cle Elum-Roslyn girls soccer wins 9-1

The Cle Elum-Roslyn High School soccer won its first game of the season versus Zillah High School on Thursday.

Senior Grace Terrill scored in the second minute for Cle Elum-Roslyn, and the goals kept pouring in as it took a 6-0 lead at the half.

In the ninth minute, Grace Jackson scored and six minutes later, Emily Taylor found the net, 3-0.

Jackson assisted Avalon DeWitt, and Terrill followed with her second goal of the game, 5-0.

Terrill found Jackson for a goal to end the half.

Jackson pushed the lead to 7-0 on a direct kick from Hallee Hink. Julie Hurley and Meadow Stone each added a goal for a 9-0 advantage.

The Warriors will head to Spokane for a 1 p.m. match Saturday versus Northwest Christian.

Ellensburg volleyball wins second match of season

The Ellensburg High School volleyball team defeated Eastmont High School on Thursday, 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14).

After falling in the first set, EHS went on to win three consecutive sets.

Stats: Abby Harrell, 12 kills, 5 aces, 8 digs; Payton Lyyski, 7 kills, 5 aces, 3 blocks; Shauny Fisk, 15 digs, 2 aces, 4 assists; Maia Valencia, 12 assists, 7 digs; Leah Stueckle, 13 assists, 6 digs; Reaghan Naboychik, 7 kills.

EHS (2-0) will play at noon Saturday at home versus West Valley (Yakima).

Kittitas football opens season with loss

The Kittitas Secondary School football team headed to Tri-Cities Prep on Friday and fell 54-6 to open the 2019 season.

Kittitas’ only score came in the first quarter on a 45-yard fumble recovery.

TCP held a 34-6 lead at the half.

Kittitas will host Columbia Burbank at 7 p.m. next Friday.
