Ellensburg girls soccer extends win streak to five games

Another game, another win for the Ellensburg High School girls soccer team on Saturday.

The Bulldogs hosted Othello High School and won 4-0 to improve to 5-0.

EHS scored on the 8th minute on a goal from Kaelynn Smith by a pass from Caitlyn Cheney. In the 17th minute, EHS pushed its lead to two as Blake Johnson found Smith for another goal.

In the second half, Johnson connected with Melissa Sanchez in the 43rd minute. And the Bulldogs final goal came in the 75th off an own goal.

“The girls are building a better chemistry playing with one another and we have girls stepping up for injured players,” said co-head coach Armando Bravo.

Ellensburg will host 5-1 Selah High School at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Kittitas volleyball competes in tournament at Quincy

Kittitas High School volleyball completed in the Quincy High School tournament Saturday versus all 2A teams in the Gold bracket, losing to 2A Anacortes in three sets (25-22, 16-25, 11-15).

To get to the top-seeded bracket via pool-play, Kittitas beat Highland (25-12, 25-15), Connell 25-15, 25-23), and lost to Ephrata (23-25, 26-24, 11-15).

Based on the total number of sets won, Kittitas advanced, just edging out Ephrata who lost to Connell.

On the day, Allison McCune led the Coyotes with 10 aces. Taylor DeKoning put down 41 kills and scooped up 45 digs. Tory Coates dished out 77 assists on the day.

The Coyotes had a .212 kill percentage. served 90.3%, and passed in-system most of the day.

Kittitas volleyball plays a league match this Tuesday at home vs. Try-Cities Prep.
