Kittitas baseball sweeps Liberty Christian

The Kittitas High School baseball team (2-0, 2-0 EWAC) opened its season on the road and with a doubleheader sweep of Liberty Christian Tuesday. And it was a hitting clinic for the Coyotes, winning by scores of 12-4 and 17-6.

Junior Justin Hudson was 5-for-8 on the day and added four RBIs. Junior Dawson Byers hit 3-of-6 with three RBIs. Junior Cody Fields batted 5-for-7 with five RBIs.

Fields pitched in game one going six innings and allowing three runs — one earned, and five strikeouts.

Kittitas will play Columbia this Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.

Cle Elum-Roslyn baseball 10 runs Highland

The Cle Elum-Roslyn High School baseball team (1-0, 1-0 SCAC) hosted Highland and commenced the year with torrid bats, topping the Scotties, 20-7.

Abe Shouse was 4-for-4 from the plate and adding four RBIs. Griffin Bator knocked in five runs and was 3-for-4. Joey Mohn was 3-for-5.

Adam Rinaldi and Keenan Everaert each had two hits.

Rinaldi started on the mound and pitched three innings, surrounding four runs — one earned on four hits.

Cle Elum-Roslyn will face La Salle this Thursday at home for a 3 p.m. double header.

Kittitas softball sweeps Liberty Christian

The Kititas High School girls softball team (2-2, 2-0 EWAC) defeated Liberty Christian 10-3 in game one, 13-4 in game two.

In game one, Autumn Miller was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Jessica Lamb went 3-for-4 with two runs. Grace Allphin and Payton Hyatt each with two hits.

Piper Williams started on the mound and notched eight strikeouts.

Game two, Williams was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Lainey Allemand scored three runs. Cassidy Gay went 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. Harley Allemand batted 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBIs.

Kittitas will host Columbia this Saturday. Game one of the double header starts at 11 a.m.

Ellensburg softball falls to West Valley (Yakima)

West Valley used back-to-back six run innings to propel past the Ellensburg High School softball team, 17-12.

Morgan Rodgers hit 3-for-4 from the plate and added three RBI. She had two triples. Katie Picha and Lacey Buchholz were each 3-for-4. Morgan Olin was 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Each Bulldog (1-2) had at least one hit. As a team, it had 21 compared to West Valley’s 20.

Ellensburg will face Wapato next Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. start.
