Kittitas volleyball wins in four sets

Kittitas High School volleyball defeated Granger High School Tuesday night in a heated preseason match that went four sets (25-23, 27-29, 26-24, 25-22).

Taylor DeKoning led all players with 28 kills and 38 digs. Tory Coates assisted on 40 kills.

Courtney Coates had a career day with eight kills against one error.

With all of the kills gathered by Kittitas, it was the defense that held court for the ‘Yotes. Allison McCune came up with 21 digs, Amelia Mohn had 20, and Anna Robertson had 19. Jillian Provoznik had 2 stuff blocks.

Kittitas plays Cashmere at home next Tuesday.

Ellensburg volleyball wins on the road

The Ellensburg High School volleyball team went on the road Tuesday defeated Quincy High School 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-15).

Freshman Abby Harrell led the team with 13 kills and added two digs and one ace.

More stats: Payton Lyyski, three aces, four kills; Alice Bennett, three kills, three blocks; Shauny Fisk, two aces, seven digs; Maia Valencia, 11 assists, one dig; Leah Stueckle, 14 assists, three digs, three aces; Rose Vazquez, three kills, two digs.

“In reality, not our best play,” said head coach Debbie Landrie. “We are seeing the things we need to work out.”

Ellensburg heads to Eastmont High School for a 7 p.m. matchup Thursday.
