Once a year, the Ellensburg Memorial Pool turns into a haven for dogs that love to swim.

Before the pool’s Labor Day draining and cleaning, the city opens the pool up to handlers and their dogs who get to chase tennis balls, jump off the diving board and more.

The event is open to well-behaved dogs that are at ease in close company with other animals and non-family members, and organizers ask that animals be accompanied by a handler 16 years of age or older.

The event is 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, and entry is free with a pet food donation for FISH Food Bank.
