High Country Logging Show 2014 - 11

Barry Luce II uses spurs in his boots and a rope to speed climb a 75-foot log at the High Country Log Show in Roslyn in 2014.

While the rodeo might be the Lower County’s Labor Day tradition, the Upper County isn’t lacking excitement.

The ninth annual High Country Log Show is back this Labor Day Weekend in Roslyn. The event features more than a dozen competitions, which celebrate the timber industry in Upper Kittitas County, according to information from the event’s website.

The log show starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Runje Field and consists of events from logging’s past and present and draws competitors and teams from Deming to the north, Buckley to the west and beyond. Log Show events include chainsaw competitions, high climbing, hand bucking, axe throwing and unlimited hot saws to name a few.

There is a beer garden, T-shirt sales, food vendors, kid’s activities and more. Admission to the log show is free and donations are welcome.
